Hygienists specialise in preventing dental problems and treating Periodontal (Gum) Disease. In most cases, problems involving the teeth and gums are avoidable. Our hygienists are very caring and gentle, understanding that nobody is perfect at brushing and flossing their teeth, you can only do the best that you can. At your routine hygiene appointment they will maintain the areas that you have missed, show you how to improve your brushing and flossing techniques in these areas and encourage you.
Most people should see a hygienist every six months routinely, however if you have signs of Periodontal (Gum) Disease, then the recommendations are every three months. The majority of dental problems arise from plaque build up and sugar. The less plaque allowed to accumulate on the teeth and the less sugar in your diet, the less problems you will have. It's as simple as that. With commitment from you and our hygienists we aim to keep your mouth healthy and problem free, requiring only routine examinations and maintenance. |
